The reason I ask this is because I want to know what it is that would want to make someone hop on to enjoy an event, as of late I find that alot of players have lost interest in getting on when they see an event ping. I guess the question is what do you want to change/see differently?
Please don't leave leave half baked answers like "events are boring/bad" and if you are going to leave a response like that please go into detail about why what makes an event feel that way.

having a more engaging event/less standing around waiting/while people do the RP stuff would be nice. I get if theres only 1 gm and none helping trying to do the RP part and keep everyone else is hard so thats understandable but for me the waiting about in events really kills it, especially when i can only join some events being pyke and with my timezone too
i feel like some events don't need to be as long as they are, such as base defense missions or other ones where we have to stand around for a long time in one spot. the only way i could see those types of events being deserving of an event being that long is that if it was a multi base defense with waves of squishy enemies or just a small portion of a bigger event.
along with this, i feel like if there's huge waves of enemies, they shouldn't have super high health to where a IFT-X can't clear it out effectively. in 104th, we only resort to using the AT-TE since the IFT-X can't stand up to large groups of enemies since they are super tanky.

^ Answer to Jimmy HP for GMs is limited so if a droid seems obsessively Tanky feel free to record it and make sure to contact someone in GM for advice.
As for the base defenses I do agee that if alot of people are going to do those they should be shorter or force the main group to split up into different Defense groups.
tbh, those "limitations" where only created to prevent GMs from making droids to OP and attempt to make them universally feel the same across all gms. I don't follow those guidelines (my npcs hp values are much lower). I dont think alot of GMs follow them. I have never had a player complain about my npcs hp, that's probably why I have never been reported for not following the guidelines.
To feathers, regarding your feedback, I 100% agree. I have actually been trying really hard my last 2 event to make sure that dosnt happen, I have been setting up recuring spawners that players not directly involved in the rp can be engaged with. I will be sharing the way I do this in the next GM meeting and encourage gms to do the same!

Imma join in even though i did become a TGM recently and still getting used to being a GM again but i agree there may be times when nothing is happening and only a few rp is happening and the rest have nothing to do or only combat is happening but no rp is done.
I however try to balance those both in any event i have even if its mostly combat. I would have side objectives that is mostly rp stuff for people to do whether its along the way to the objective and/or at the objective, and if people have opinions or complaints or issues with it and tell me i would be like "aight lemme see how i can change that, ty for telling me." And when im setting stuff up at the next objective i would have either enemy forces (or now wildlife)" keep the troops occupied while i set it up along with any side objectives that are left so they arent just standing around being bored.
So i think the main thing here is to balance both rp and combat in events, cause when its just rp or just combat it gets boring but if you balance it well enough with a little bit of one thing then mostly the other, you have a good event. So maybe gms should set up more cool side objectives for people to do like biohazards, drugs, strange plants, refineries etc, small side objectives to just keep people preoccupied.
(Typed this whole thing btw here at night on my phone so apologies if i typed anything wrong or misspelled)

I've been hesitant to say what I like in events since I'm not turbo active anymore, mainly coming by to pop in and check what's going on, but if it's of any help, personally, I'm a fan of a clear objective on what we are going to do. Introduce the plan, follow the plan and we are golden. What happens during it can be whatever but as long as I have a good idea on what's gonna happen and I'm allowed to do what my job does best then I'm all good. Obviously the "do what my job does best" is hard to have happen every event, especially with each battalion having a wide variety of things they all do but still, as best as one can, let people do their job.
I know this one would be hard sometimes depending on 1: Times and 2: People just wanting to chill and play for an event since GMs are players also, but I think events should have AT LEAST two GMs working on them, one leading and the others providing aid, in order to avoid moments that have people just sitting around and waiting. When there are people doing the objective, if people aren't associated with the RP happening there, it can lead to people doing their own thing and while that shouldn't be discouraged, if people "doing their own thing" can lead to the event being hindered, that is something that should be avoided as much as possible. Put some stationary vehicles for people to hijack, send in some EC commando droids to cause havoc (ideally not always one's with the suicide vests), give people with high mobility a chance to get to some high positions like custom watchtowers so they can look out and potentially call out something coming or just have there be a big defense portion. The main thing is to try and make sure, as best you can, people don't start wandering and are actively engaged with something. Obviously, this varies depending on if a GM has people to help them out so it's not always gonna be a fool proof solution but, like I said, events should have multiple GMs with one GM leading the charge so hopefully it won't be too much of an issue.
also i think good surprise attack events are good, like azula's campaign event yesterday with the portals. no briefing, just straight to the point. it adds immersion and anticipation of what's to come next. it gives GC's the opportunity to command without instruction and allows further experience to be given with that
