Possible City Life Update | Gaining Player Input

Howdy everyone,

Management has been discussing a potential major update to the server, and we’d like to gather community input before moving forward on a official decision on if we wish to do it or not.

City Life Update Concept

We are exploring the idea of introducing a “City Life” element to the server—bringing in a healthy mix of DarkRP-style systems to encourage more passive, player-driven RP, especially during on-map periods.

This is still a rough concept, and nothing is finalized. If we see strong community support, we will begin working through the details more thoroughly.

Here are some early ideas we’ve discussed:

  1. City-Based Map
    Transitioning our next base map to a city-themed environment (for example, Vardos):

  2. Civilian Job Category
    Introducing a new set of civilian-focused roles such as Citizen, Hobo, Mayor, etc.

  3. Expanded Criminal RP
    Developing criminal roles further to create more meaningful and engaging RP opportunities.

  4. Supporting Systems
    Adding systems that support these roles and provide ways to earn money (e.g., mechanics similar to DarkRP money printers).

We want to emphasize that this is not a full overhaul of the server’s core gameplay. Core elements such as base procedures, off-map systems, and overall structure would remain largely the same. The goal is to expand the setting—from operating solely within a base to existing within a larger, living city environment.

We’ve also spoken with High Command and GMC+, and initial feedback has been supportive. That said, we understand this would require further discussion with regiments and their command teams to ensure everything integrates smoothly.

Impact on Regiment Roleplay

This update would also expand and enhance the roleplay opportunities for several regiments (these are just a few examples):

  • Criminal/Pyke RP – Greater freedom and emphasis on criminal activity, allowing for more consistent and meaningful underworld RP.

  • Shock – Expected to actively patrol the city, monitor civilian and criminal activity, respond to emergencies, and enforce Republic law.

  • Medical – Responsible for the health and wellbeing of civilians, including check-ups, treatments, and expanded medical RP scenarios.

  • 104th – May take on responsibilities involving city patrols and ensuring infrastructure/systems remain operational and in good order.

These changes are intended to give each regiment more consistent, day-to-day RP opportunities within the city environment.

The purpose of this post is to gather your thoughts, concerns, and suggestions/ideas before we make any major decisions, as this would impact day-to-day RP.

I like the idea a lot, this could very much bring a lot of new life into regiments like the ones listed assuming we get a good map for it, my only concern is if the server has the player count to fill up the things suggested. Though on the other hand this could be what fixes the servers low player count that I've noticed that happens in between off-maps. I think its worth a go, if it works then it works well, if it doesnt, then we can go back.

+support this sounds perfect! especially since 104th will get extra roleplay opportunities. however, i do see an issue with the player base just outright not using it. that has been an issue, but nevertheless, it sounds amazing

1, for the city map thing, i like to recommend this: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2957337038. this is vardos but without the tyler prop pack so it should work cause i understand the actual vardos one has more content stuff. another city themed environment i could suggest is this: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3681177159. this other map is basically correllia, first layer is similar to sog but slightly different, 2nd layer the city and 3rd layer a warzone for onmap battles, i think that map would be good for urban focused area's as there is a ton of stuff in it but ya'll can look at it if you like. (there is also fewer bunks but you can utilize the outposts/factories/base buildings for other batts frl)

2, Civilian jobs YES. those were a bit fun on the first sog map but was sad when they were removed, those would be really fun jobs for passives and such. it would add more passive rp and maybe more court cases. i would be fine with new criminal jobs too that we dont have yet besides the Bounty hunter job. i also think for the neutral jobs that a civilian militia could be added to assist shock frl. and maybe add a blacksun gangster job (maybe 2-3-4 slots) that can just be a small gang rivalling pyke or in agreement, and also maybe some trandoshan hunter jobs with a certain model for more variety of criminal jobs.

honestly would be down for a city based base map, would be a good new environment for the summer

I would like to put forward the idea of Naval taking on a more active administrative and operational role within the city, building off the Star Wars Imperial “Moff-style” concept, but without stepping into governance positions, as those appropriately remain within High Command.

Instead, Naval would function as the administrative backbone that helps keep the city running smoothly on a day-to-day basis.

Proposed Naval Roles (City Integration)

  • Naval Administration

    • Handles permits, licenses, and general civilian regulation (business approvals, restricted access documentation, etc.)

    • Manages official records, documentation, and communications

    • Acts as the primary interface between civilians and the Republic’s administrative systems

  • Naval Logistics & Operations

    • Oversees supply flow, transport coordination, and docking control

    • Manages fleet-related logistics that impact the city (ship arrivals, resource distribution, etc.)

    • Coordinates with regiments like the 104th for infrastructure-related needs

  • Naval Audit Powers

    • Conducts audits on civilian businesses, regiments, and city systems to ensure proper use of funds and compliance with regulations.

    • Investigates financial crimes such as fraud, illegal income sources, and abuse of money-making systems.

    • Works with Shock and High Command by compiling evidence and forwarding cases for enforcement or rulings.

    • Monitors the overall flow of credits within the city to maintain balance and prevent exploitation of systems.

How This Benefits RP

  • Gives Naval consistent, meaningful on-map responsibilities

  • Creates a clear administrative structure without stepping on governance roles

  • Encourages cross-regiment interaction(Shock for enforcement, Medical for public health, 104th for systems/infrastructure)

  • Supports player-driven RP scenarios, such as:

    • Permit disputes or business regulation issues

    • Supply shortages or logistical complications

    • Emergency response coordination

    • Civilian complaints and administrative processing/

Additional Suggestions

  • Introduce a contract/request system, where civilians or regiments submit requests handled by Naval

  • Allow Naval to manage documentation systems (IDs, permits, access clearances)

  • Create opportunities for paperwork-driven RP that still ties into larger events
