How Many Hours do you have on the server?: Currently I have 60 hours.
Why do you wish to apply for the Gamemaster position?
I’m applying to become a Gamemaster mainly because I was recommended for the role, and also because, from what I’ve seen, the team could really use a few more creative, like-minded people. That’s something I have a lot of experience with.
I have had the GM interview done before hand and they suggested I submit a written application along with the interview.. During the interview I mentioned that I used to be an Icefuse Event Planner/Gamemaster as well as a moderator and because of that background, I feel like I could be a solid addition to the team because of this experience. Even though I've joined this server not too long ago, I feel I can contribute quite a bit. My main goal of applying was to help make things feel more alive and immersive especially during the slower hours when only a handful of people are on. (This doesn't mean it'll only happen during downtime hours.)
What sets you apart from the other applicants?
There are two main factors that matter here, being able to work as a team when it comes to working with others as well as making sure everyone involved within the event feels included and appreciated. Good communication is a huge part of this and it can get hard during an event when there's a lot going on at once, but multitasking is something of my expertise! As for keeping everyone involved, it really helps to have a GM who pays attention to small details as too many times have I seen the roleplay move forward with players / whole groups being left behind. Adding that extra bit of care and awareness can make a big difference in the smoothness and enjoyability within the event and I intend to be that person. :)
On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your creativity?
As I have already mentioned during the interview, this may be pushing it but I'd say I have a score of 9.5 out of 10. Not that this has anything to do with this application but most of that creativity comes from the fact that I study fulltime an extra-curicular which is all about having creativity. So yeah I'd say I have a lot of that floating around there somewhere.
On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your knowledge of the lore?
7.5/10
Provide an example of an event you can create.
Briefing
Intelligence reports that a Republic listening post on the Outer Rim has gone dark. Last transmission indicated that CIS commandos infiltrated the base and are holding several Republic analysts hostage. The hostages contain strategic intel codes that the Separatists want to extract.
The Republic must respond quickly before the CIS extracts the data or executes the prisoners.
Stage 1
❂Arrival & Recon❂
A battalion is deployed to the outpost. (41st / ARC Troops of any kind are deployed first to scout the area.)
They discover:
Doors welded shut
Security turrets reprogrammed by the CIS
Minimal droid patorls outside to avoid drawing attention
Objective:
Disable exterior defenses and create a safe entry point.
Stage 2
❂Initial Breach❂
Inside the base, clones encounter:
B1 patrols
A small number of B2s guarding the hallways
Trip mines or booby traps set by CIS infiltrators (Unsure if this is possible within gmod otherwise it'll have to be roleplayed.)
The CIS commando team (can be event characters) leaves voice lines or radio taunts, demanding Republic withdrawal or the hostages die.
Objective:
Clear the main area, disarm traps, and locate hostage life-sign trackers.
Stage 3
❂Negotiation or Diversion❂
The CIS holds 3–5 hostages. (The number may vary if we are using AI / event characters for hostage).
One commando contacts Republic Command:
“If you push any further, the next door you open will have a corpse behind it.”
Players choose between:
Path A – Negotiation
A Jedi or Officer negotiates to stall for time.
CIS makes unreasonable demands (ship access, retreat, intel).
While talking, ARC troopers locate vents or alternative entry points.
Path B – Tactical Diversion
Republic stages a fake withdrawal or creates a diversion (stun, distraction, jedi mind tricks).
Jedi infiltrate via ceilings/vents while the diversion draws fire.
Either path should create tension without immediate hostage deaths. (Made-up scenarios could also be made up by the ground troops throughout roleplay.)
Stage 4
❂Hostage Situations❂
Each situation which may differentiate have different challenges:
Situation 1 – Explosive Collars
Hostages have collars triggered by motion sensors if dealt with recklessly.
Engineers or Jedi need to disarm them carefully.
Droids attack mid–defusal.
Situation 2 – Sniper Threat
A commando is using a hostage as a shield.
Requires a coordinated stun, force push, or sniper action.
Situation 3 – Droid Extraction Team
BX commandos attempt to escape with the hostage.
Republic must chase and disable their shuttle.
Stage 5
❂Final Mission❂
The CIS commander retreats to the control center, threatening to vent the oxygen and kill everyone inside.
The Republic must:
Stop the override
Fight waves of droids
Duel the CIS commander
When defeated, the commander activates a last measure explosive which is heard throughout the base.
Objective:
Evacuate hostages and clones before detonation.
Stage 6
❂Extraction and Debrief❂
Gunships evacuate hostages.
Engineers confirm intel terminals were not breached.
Back to debrief we go!
Do you understand that abuse of power will result in your removal and blacklist?
I understand.
What is your prior experience with gamemastering or similar roles?
With my interview being done before hand and already mentioning the fact I had past experience on Icefuse, I'd say my experience with roles like this would be above average, I'll just have to get used to the new system if given the chance to become a Gamemaster.
How do you handle conflict and difficult situations?
It usually depends on the given situation, whether it be roleplayers who aren't getting enough of what they are into, arguments breaking out or uncoordinated callouts / actions are taking place, the handling could differentiate as well as the severity on each occasion but usually when settling a general conflict, it would be dealt with immediately depending on how urgent / harmful it is then it would be typically brought up at debrief which will then be disccused upon on how we collectively as a group, could do it better next time.
What are your preferred event genres or themes?
Passive events / Stealth missions / Breaching / Defusing a situation / Negotiations / Spec Opsoriented situations.
Is there anything else you wish to add?
Disclaimer, no AI was used during the process of making this application. I used a pre-made template for the Event Situation. All info given in this application will stay true and is all the pure truth, no lie told!
