I respect the effort put into applying for the Apprentice LUA Developer spot, but there are some concerns that make it hard for me to support this right now.
The biggest issue is the lack of a portfolio. I understand losing past work when your PC was cleaned, but without any examples of code, past projects, or something to show what you've done, it’s really tough to judge your actual ability. On a game server, even small coding mistakes can cause big problems, so being able to see proof of experience is important for trust and reliability.
The application also doesn’t go into much detail about what you've actually worked on. Saying you've done LUA on a friend’s server or some FiveM coding is fine, but there’s no mention of specific systems, fixes, or features you've created or assisted in implementing. Even a short write-up of how you solved problems in the past would have given a better picture of how you think and work with code.
The one thing that does stand out is your enthusiasm and availability. That’s definitely a positive. I think it would still be worth having a direct conversation to learn more about your past experience, and maybe setting up a small trial task with limited access to see how you would handle it. That would give us something more concrete to work off of.
For now though, without a portfolio, clear examples of past work, or strong references, I don’t think it’s a good idea to bring someone onto the dev team who would have access to important server systems.
