Good god, I'm going to need to do individual +1s and -1s and Neutrals for this. Note, I am going to sound harsh on this because this is a base we will be staying at for AT LEAST 3 months most likely.
Sog FBG: Neutral. That map was made specifically for us and while it is a nice map, we've been their relatively recently. That being said, it has been a while to my knowledge so I'd be cool seeing it.
Sog Lightrise: Neutral. Again, it's just Sog. The temple isn't the bad one that I was worrying it was gonna be but it's still one that I'm largely neutral neutral leaning positive on personally. (Note, after visiting it proper on the Rishi map, I forgot that I enjoy the temple here.)
Sog Generic: -1. This is the bad temple I mentioned before. Way to cramped. That compounding with the fact that the map is just Sog, somewhere we have used as a base map multiple times, I just don't want to go there.
Balmorra: Neutral leaning +1. I mean, it's not a bad map. I'm pretty sure we've used this map for events before and there is A LOT of space around so I know people could definitely make their own fun in it. I can definitely see quest masters going hard on this map. However, The Jedi Temple is bad. It looks more like an observatory post then an actual temple. That being said, it does look very empty and unfurnished so I'm sure people can jazz it up and make it look nice.
Rishi: +1 leaning Neutral. See, THIS is the kind of map that I'd want to see. This is a base we've been to before however to my knowledge it has only been on an offensive front so defending it would be a nice change of pace (41st and snipers, the CC watch tower goes hard). The Temple is also solid, it's a wide open space for Jedi to have fun with. That being said, I have two slight issues, 1: The outside of the base is not very big. I'm not an expert but I'm not entirely sure how much people will be able to do outside the base. 2: This one is more important in my opinion, when you enter CC, it is INCREDIBLY bright, There are bright blue and white lights right in the entrance which, personally, hurts my eyes which could get very annoying very fast, or worse for some people.
Bana Arq: -1 The map looks great and I don't know what happened yesterday but there was HORRIBLE lag on it. No disrespect meant but let's put that one on the back burner for now. I would need an event to go off with no issues to really change my opinion on this map.
Bana Venator: -1 Don't we use that as our transitional map? It's a Venator so you can only do so much, even if Quest Masters go into overtime making things for people to do when things aren't going on.
Bana Kamino: -1 I recognize this map. We used it for a Promo Ceremony/Kamino Lore Event and it worked out well for that purpose. That being said, this map is not good for more then that. The sim rooms, outside Citadel, are REALLY bad and even then, the Citadel is just that, Citadel. It's hard to make an actually bad Citadel. From spawn to the Engine Room, you need to travel basically the entirety of the map to get to the Engine Room. Most importantly ,there is NOTHING to do on this map. Like, quest givers can do as much as they can but I cannot see anything that can be done on this map outside of constantly recreating The Battle of Kamino. This map is good for a 4-5 hour occupation and nothing else in my opinion.
All that being said, I do like how they did the bunks. Having battalions pair off like that right next to the mess hall is cool. The temple is also very atmospheric but it's also very small.
Arkanis: HARD -1 First of all, where is the Jedi Temple? I could be missing it but I could not find it while I was looking. Jedi is incredibly pivotal in the server so any new bases should AT MINIMUM have a Temple. Holy big bunks Batman. These bunks are STUPID big. Like, I would almost dare to call them unnecessarily big, especially with the hallway of the bunks being cramped. Honestly, I'd have less of a problem with the base itself if the entire map didn't look the exact same. The base itself is just grey, grey and more grey. Every single tree is copy-pasted right next to each other, which wouldn't be a problem if the trees didn't look cobbled together PNGs. This map looks unfinished. The layout is solid but besides that it just looks like it was uploaded as a proof of concept to be updated later.
Alin: Neutral leaning +1. If I haven't made it obvious, I would like to see new maps and I am not making exception to Base Alin. Don't get me wrong, I like Alin but the only thing keeping it from being 'Neutral' is the fact that we've only been their once unlike Sog and Anaxus.
Moral of the Story: When looking for different base maps for us to remain at for a long time, I would like to see new maps, different layouts, all that stuff. I have no problem with familiarity but we should be looking for great quality, new and fresh ground for us to put our boots on. Honestly, the only maps here that feels like that are Rishi, which has a lot of repeat stuff that we've seen before but done in a way we haven't been in yet (minus The Temple), and Bana Arq, which we JUST had massive server troubles with when on that map (that's likely unrelated but it's still VERY fresh in the mind).
